[692] Having sat down to one side, the Venerable Sāriputta said this to the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna: "Friend Moggallāna, your faculties are serene; the complexion of your face is pure and bright. Surely today the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna has dwelt in a peaceful dwelling."
"Friend, today I dwelt in a coarse dwelling; but I did have some talk on the Dhamma."
"With whom did the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna have this talk on the Dhamma?"
"Friend, I had this talk on the Dhamma with the Blessed One."
"Friend, the Blessed One is far away: he is now dwelling at Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park. Did the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna approach the Blessed One by psychic power (iddhi), or did the Blessed One approach the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna by psychic power?"
"Friend, I did not approach the Blessed One by psychic power, nor did the Blessed One approach me by psychic power. Rather, as far away as the Blessed One is, to that extent the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) was purified in me, and the divine ear element (dibbā sotadhātu); and for the Blessed One too, as far away as I am, to that extent the divine eye was purified, and the divine ear element."
"But in what way did the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna have this talk on the Dhamma with the Blessed One?"
