[697] Sitting to one side, those bhikkhus said this to the Blessed One: "Here, venerable sir, a certain newly ordained bhikkhu, having returned from the alms round after his meal, enters the dwelling and idles away the time, unconcerned and silent; he does not render service to the bhikkhus at the time of robe-making."
Then the Blessed One addressed a certain bhikkhu: "Come, bhikkhu, address that bhikkhu in my name: 'The Teacher calls you, friend.'" "Yes, venerable sir," that bhikkhu replied to the Blessed One; he approached that bhikkhu, and having approached, he said this to him: "The Teacher calls you, friend." "Yes, friend," that bhikkhu replied to him; he approached the Blessed One, and having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. As that bhikkhu was sitting to one side, the Blessed One said this to him: "Is it true, bhikkhu, as it is said, that having returned from the alms round after your meal, you enter the dwelling and idle away the time, unconcerned and silent, and do not render service to the bhikkhus at the time of robe-making?"
"Venerable sir, I too am doing my own task."
