[203] "What do you think, friend Yamaka — do you regard the Tathāgata as this one who is without form, without feeling (vedanā), without perception, without volitional formations, without consciousness?"
"No indeed, friend."
"And here, friend Yamaka, since the Tathāgata is not to be apprehended by you as true and real even in this very life, is that declaration of yours fitting: 'As I understand the Dhamma taught by the Blessed One, a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed is annihilated and perishes with the breaking up of the body and does not exist after death'?"
"Formerly, friend Sāriputta, when I was unknowing, that pernicious view (diṭṭhigata) did arise in me; but now, having heard this Dhamma teaching of the Venerable Sāriputta, that very pernicious view has been abandoned by me, and the Dhamma has been penetrated by me."
