[204] "Friend Yamaka, if they were to question you thus: 'Friend Yamaka, that bhikkhu who is an arahant (arahaṃ), one whose taints (āsava) are destroyed — with the breakup of the body, after death, what becomes of him?' Being questioned thus, friend Yamaka, how would you answer?"
"Friend, if they were to question me thus: 'Friend Yamaka, that bhikkhu who is an arahant, one whose taints are destroyed — with the breakup of the body, after death, what becomes of him?' Being questioned thus, friend, I would answer thus: 'Form (rūpa), friend, is impermanent; what is impermanent is suffering (dukkha); what is suffering has ceased, it has passed away. Feeling (vedanā) … Perception (saññā) … Volitional formations (saṅkhārā) … Consciousness (viññāṇa) is impermanent; what is impermanent is suffering; what is suffering has ceased, it has passed away.' Being questioned thus, friend, I would answer thus."
