[22] "And how, householder, is one a maker of speech in contention (viggayha) with people? Here, householder, a certain person is a maker of speech of such a kind as this: 'You do not understand this Dhamma and Discipline (dhammavinaya); I understand this Dhamma and Discipline. How could you understand this Dhamma and Discipline? You are practising wrongly; I am practising rightly. What should have been said first, you said last; what should have been said last, you said first. What I say is consistent; what you say is inconsistent. What you have long practised has been overturned. Your thesis (vāda) has been refuted. Go about now to free your thesis; you stand refuted—or extricate yourself, if you can.' It is in this way, householder, that one is a maker of speech in contention with people."
