[26] "Householder, it is with the destruction, fading away, cessation, giving up, and relinquishment of whatever desire (chanda), whatever lust (rāga), whatever delight (nandi), whatever craving (taṇhā), and whatever engagement and clinging (upāyupādāna), mental standpoints, adherences, and underlying tendencies there are regarding the form (rūpa) element (dhātu) that the mind (citta) is said to be well liberated.
"Householder, regarding the feeling (vedanā) element … regarding the perception (saññā) element … regarding the volitional formations (saṅkhārā) element … Householder, it is with the destruction, fading away, cessation, giving up, and relinquishment of whatever desire, whatever lust, whatever delight, whatever craving, and whatever engagement and clinging, mental standpoints, adherences, and underlying tendencies there are regarding the consciousness (viññāṇa) element that the mind is said to be well liberated.
"Thus, householder, as to what was said by the Blessed One in the Sakkapañha: 'Those ascetics and brahmins who are liberated through the destruction of craving are utterly consummate, utterly secure from bondage, utterly living the holy life, utterly reached the final end—they are the best among devas and humans'—it is in this way, householder, that the meaning of what was spoken in brief by the Blessed One should be seen in detail."
