[401] At Sāvatthī. The Blessed One said this to the Venerable Rādha, who was seated to one side: "Rādha, whatever is Māra — you should abandon desire (chanda) for it. And what, Rādha, is Māra? Form (rūpa), Rādha, is Māra; you should abandon desire for it. … Consciousness is Māra; you should abandon desire for it. Rādha, whatever is Māra — you should abandon desire for it."
