[416] At Sāvatthī. The Blessed One said this to the Venerable Rādha, who was seated to one side: "Rādha, whatever is subject to cessation (nirodhadhamma) — there you should abandon desire (chanda). You should abandon lust (rāga). You should abandon desire and lust (chandarāga). And what, Rādha, is subject to cessation? Form (rūpa), Rādha, is subject to cessation — there you should abandon desire. You should abandon lust. You should abandon desire and lust. Feeling (vedanā) … Perception … Volitional formations … Consciousness is subject to cessation — there you should abandon desire. You should abandon lust. You should abandon desire and lust. Rādha, whatever is subject to cessation — there you should abandon desire. You should abandon lust. You should abandon desire and lust."
The Fourth Chapter, on Sitting Nearby (Upanisinnavagga), is finished.
