[548] "…is reborn in companionship with the rain-cloud devas (vassavalāhakā devā)?" "Here, bhikkhu, someone practices good conduct by body, practices good conduct by speech, practices good conduct by mind. He has heard: 'The rain-cloud devas are long-lived, beautiful, and abounding in happiness.' It occurs to him thus: 'Oh, that with the breaking up of the body, after death, I might be reborn in companionship with the rain-cloud devas!' He gives food, gives drink, gives clothing, gives a vehicle, gives garlands, gives scents, gives unguents, gives bedding, gives dwellings, gives lamps. With the breaking up of the body, after death, he is reborn in companionship with the rain-cloud devas. This, bhikkhu, is the cause, this is the reason why someone here, with the breaking up of the body, after death, is reborn in companionship with the rain-cloud devas (vassavalāhakā devā)."
