[572] Sāvatthī. "It is, Vaccha, [because of not knowing] in regard to volitional formations (saṅkhārā) …" *Translator's note:* The Pali here is elided (ฯเปฯ) after "saṅkhāresu kho vaccha"; the ellipsis is retained as the Pali itself elides. The bracketed causal phrase "because of not knowing" (aññāṇā) is supplied from the parallel items of this repetition series, whose full refrain runs: "It is because of not knowing volitional formations, not knowing the origin of volitional formations, not knowing the cessation of volitional formations, and not knowing the path leading to the cessation of volitional formations, that these various views arise in the world."
