[69] "And what, bhikkhus, is the root of misery (agha)? It is this craving (taṇhā) that leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust, delighting now here, now there; that is: craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence, craving for non-existence. This, bhikkhus, is called the root of misery."
