[70] At Sāvatthī. There … ¹ "Bhikkhus, I will teach you the disintegrating (pabhaṅgu) and the non-disintegrating (appabhaṅgu). Listen to it. And what, bhikkhus, is the disintegrating, and what the non-disintegrating? Form (rūpa), bhikkhus, is disintegrating; its cessation, subsiding, and passing away — this is the non-disintegrating. Feeling (vedanā) is disintegrating; its cessation, subsiding, and passing away — this is the non-disintegrating. Perception is disintegrating. … Volitional formations are disintegrating; their cessation, subsiding, and passing away — this is the non-disintegrating. Consciousness is disintegrating; its cessation, subsiding, and passing away — this is the non-disintegrating." The Burden Chapter (Bhāravagga), the third. ¹ The European edition reads "kiñca." Its summary (uddāna): The Burden, Full Understanding, Fully Knowing, Desire-and-Lust as the fourth; the three on Gratification are stated, Delighting as the eighth; Arising and the Root of Misery, and the Disintegrating as the eleventh. __________________ In the Root Fifty (Mūlapaṇṇāsaka) of the Khandha Saṃyutta, the Natumhāka Chapter is the fourth.
