[137] Having seen a form, mindfulness is lost as one attends to the pleasing sign (nimitta); one experiences it with a mind inflamed by lust, and one remains clinging to it. For him many feelings (vedanā) grow, arising from form; covetousness and vexation as well— his mind (citta) is thereby afflicted. For one thus accumulating suffering (dukkha), Nibbāna is said to be far away. …
