[196] "The mind (citta), Master Bhāradvāja, is fickle. Sometimes states of greed arise even toward women of an age to be one's mother; states of greed arise even toward women of an age to be one's sister; states of greed arise even toward women of an age to be one's daughter. Is there, Master Bhāradvāja, any other cause, any other condition, by which these young bhikkhus, youthful, black-haired, … and maintain it for a long time?"
"This has been said, great king, by that Blessed One who knows and sees, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One: 'Come, bhikkhus, review this very body, upward from the soles of the feet, downward from the tips of the head-hairs, enclosed by skin, full of impurity of many kinds: there are in this body head-hairs, body-hairs, nails, teeth, skin, flesh, sinews, bones, bone-marrow, kidneys, heart, liver, pleura, spleen, lungs, large intestine, small intestine, stomach contents, feces, bile, phlegm, pus, blood, sweat, fat, tears, grease, saliva, snot, fluid of the joints, urine.' This too, great king, is a cause, this too a condition, by which these young bhikkhus, youthful, black-haired, … and maintain it for a long time."
