[21] Bhikkhus, the arising, persistence, production, and manifestation of the eye — this is the arising of suffering (dukkha), the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death. The arising … of the ear … of the nose … of the tongue … of the body … The arising, persistence, production, and manifestation of the mind — this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death.
But, bhikkhus, the cessation (nirodha), subsiding, and disappearance of the eye — this is the cessation of suffering, the subsiding of diseases, the disappearance of aging and death. That of the ear … That of the nose … That of the tongue … That of the body … The cessation, subsiding, and disappearance of the mind — this is the cessation of suffering, the subsiding of diseases, the disappearance of aging and death.
