[214] "It is a gain for you, bhikkhus! It is well gained by you, bhikkhus! The opportune moment (khaṇa) for living the holy life (brahmacariya) has been obtained by you. Bhikkhus, I have seen the hells (niraya) named 'the six bases of contact' (cha phassāyatanikā). There, whatever form one sees with the eye, one sees only an undesirable form, not a desirable form; one sees only an unlovely form, not a lovely form; one sees only a disagreeable form, not an agreeable form. Whatever sound one hears with the ear … Whatever odour one smells with the nose … Whatever taste one savours with the tongue … Whatever tangible one touches with the body … Whatever dhamma one cognizes with the mind, one cognizes only what is undesirable, not what is desirable; one cognizes only what is unlovely, not what is lovely; one cognizes only what is disagreeable, not what is agreeable."
