Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Saḷāyatanavaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 18 · Section 367

[367] Bhikkhus, there are these three feelings (vedanā). What three? Pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling. Pleasant feeling, bhikkhus, should be seen as suffering (dukkha); painful feeling should be seen as a dart; neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling should be seen as impermanent. When, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has seen pleasant feeling as suffering, has seen painful feeling as a dart, and has seen neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling as impermanent, this bhikkhu, bhikkhus, is called one who sees rightly. He has cut off craving (taṇhā), severed the fetter, and, through the complete breaking through of conceit, has made an end of suffering.
