[386] Bhikkhus, if, while that bhikkhu dwells thus mindful … there arises in him a painful feeling (vedanā) … there arises in him a neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, he understands thus: 'There has arisen in me this neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling; and that is dependent, not independent. Dependent on what? Dependent on just this contact (phassa).' Now this contact is impermanent (anicca), conditioned (saṅkhata), dependently arisen (paṭiccasamuppanna) … (to be expanded here as it was expanded in the previous sutta). He understands: 'With the breakup of the body, following the exhaustion of life, right here all that is felt, not being delighted in, will become cool.'
