[401] Moreover, Ānanda, I have declared the progressive stilling of formations (saṅkhārā): for one who has attained the first jhāna, speech has been stilled … for one who has attained the cessation of perception and feeling (saññāvedayitanirodha), perception and feeling (vedanā) have been stilled. For a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, lust (rāga) has been stilled, hatred has been stilled, delusion has been stilled.
