[421] "And what, Ānanda, is the other happiness more excellent and more sublime than that happiness? Here, Ānanda, with the complete transcending of the base of the infinity of space (ākāsānañcāyatana), [perceiving] 'consciousness is infinite,' a bhikkhu enters and dwells in the base of the infinity of consciousness (viññāṇañcāyatana). This, Ānanda, is the other happiness more excellent and more sublime than that happiness. Now, Ānanda, those who would speak thus: 'This is the supreme, peaceful happiness and joy that beings experience' — I do not concede this to them. For what reason? Because there is, Ānanda, another happiness more excellent and more sublime than that happiness."
