[452] And what, Bhikkhus, is the happiness not of the flesh (nirāmisa) that is even more spiritual than that not of the flesh? When, Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu whose taints (āsava) are destroyed reviews his mind (citta) liberated from lust (rāga), reviews his mind liberated from hatred, reviews his mind liberated from delusion, there arises happiness and joy (somanassa). This, Bhikkhus, is called the happiness not of the flesh that is even more spiritual than that not of the flesh.
