[697] "And what, bhikkhus, is the path leading to the unconditioned (asaṅkhatagāmimagga)? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu generates desire (chanda) for the non-arising of unarisen evil, unwholesome states; he makes an effort, arouses energy (vīriya), exerts the mind (citta), and strives. This, bhikkhus, is called the path leading to the unconditioned."
