[777] "Friend, for one who is not devoid of lust (rāga) for form, not devoid of desire (chanda), not devoid of affection (pema), not devoid of thirst (pipāsā), not devoid of fever (pariḷāha), not devoid of craving (taṇhā), there occurs the view: 'The Tathāgata exists after death' … there occurs the view: 'The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.' For one who is not devoid of lust for feeling (vedanā) … for perception … for volitional formations … for consciousness—not devoid of desire, not devoid of affection, not devoid of thirst, not devoid of fever, not devoid of craving—there occurs the view: 'The Tathāgata exists after death' … there occurs the view: 'The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.'"
