[782] "But, friend, might there be also another method of exposition (pariyāya) by which this was left undeclared (abyākata) by the Blessed One?" "There might be, friend. For one who delights in existence (bhava), friend, who takes delight in existence, who rejoices in existence, not knowing and not seeing the cessation of existence as it really is, there occurs the thought, 'The Tathāgata exists after death' … there occurs the thought, 'The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.'"
