[781] "Friend, for one who does not delight in form (rūpa), who is not fond of form, who does not rejoice in form, and who knows and sees the cessation (nirodha) of form as it really is (yathābhūta), there does not occur [the view] 'the Tathāgata exists after death' … nor does there occur [the view] 'the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.' Friend, for one who does not delight in feeling (vedanā) … Friend, for one who does not delight in perception (saññā) … Friend, for one who does not delight in volitional formations (saṅkhārā) … Friend, for one who does not delight in consciousness (viññāṇa), who is not fond of consciousness, who does not rejoice in consciousness, and who knows and sees the cessation of consciousness as it really is, there does not occur [the view] 'the Tathāgata exists after death,' nor 'the Tathāgata does not exist …' … nor does there occur [the view] 'the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.' This too, friend, is the cause, this the condition, why that was left undeclared by the Blessed One."
