[784] "But, friend, might there be also another method (pariyāya) by which this has not been declared by the Blessed One?" "There might be, friend. For one who delights in clinging (upādāna), friend, who is pleased with clinging, who rejoices in clinging, not knowing and not seeing the cessation of clinging as it really is, there occurs the thought: 'The Tathāgata exists after death' … there occurs the thought: 'The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death.'"
