Catuttharukkhasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 1081

[1081] Bhikkhus, just as, of whatever trees belong to the supaṇṇas, the koṭasimbalī tree is declared their foremost; even so, bhikkhus, of whatever dhammas that partake of awakening (bodhipakkhiyā dhammā), the faculty of wisdom (paññindriya) is declared their foremost, that is, for awakening. The Seventh Chapter: On the Dhammas that Partake of Awakening. Its summary (uddāna): Fetters, underlying tendencies (anusaya), full understanding (pariññā), the destruction of the taints (āsava), two on fruits, four on trees — by these the chapter is named. __________________ The Ganges Repetition Series (Gaṅgādipeyyāla), the Eighth [division] of the Indriyasaṃyutta.
