[11] "Sāriputta, by this method too it should be understood how this entire holy life (brahmacariya) is just this: good friendship (kalyāṇamittatā), good companionship, good comradeship. For, Sāriputta, by relying on me as a good friend, beings subject to birth (jāti) are freed from birth; beings subject to aging (jarā) are freed from aging; beings subject to death (maraṇa) are freed from death; beings subject to sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair are freed from sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair. By this method, Sāriputta, it should be understood how this entire holy life is just this: good friendship, good companionship, good comradeship."
