[1219] Bhikkhus, there are these four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops the basis of spiritual power possessed of concentration (samādhi) due to desire (chanda) and volitional formations of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra). He develops the basis of spiritual power possessed of concentration due to energy … due to mind (citta) … possessed of concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving. These, bhikkhus, are the four bases of spiritual power.
