[1408] Bhikkhus, concentration (samādhi) through mindfulness of breathing (ānāpānasati), when developed and cultivated, leads to the uprooting of the underlying tendencies (anusaya). … (To be expanded in full.) … It is when concentration through mindfulness of breathing is developed in this way, bhikkhus, cultivated in this way, that it leads to the uprooting of the underlying tendencies.
