[1463] "Furthermore, householders (gahapatayo), a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) reflects thus: 'If someone were to divide me from my friends by divisive speech (pisuṇā vācā), that would not be dear and agreeable to me. And if I were to divide another from his friends by divisive speech, that would be undear and disagreeable to the other as well.' … Thus this verbal conduct (vacīsamācāra) of his becomes purified in three respects.
