[1482] Setting at Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, the brahmins prescribe a practice called 'the way leading upward' (udayagāminī paṭipadā). They exhort a disciple thus: 'Come, good man, rise early in the morning and walk facing east. Do not avoid a pit, a precipice, a stump, a thorny place, a cesspool, or a village sewer. Wherever you fall, right there you should await death. Thus, good man, with the breakup of the body, after death, you will be reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world.'"
