[1540] Here, Mahānāma, a certain person has gone wholly to the Buddha and is fully confident in him: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." In the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha … He is of joyous wisdom (hāsapañña), of swift wisdom (javanapañña), and endowed with liberation (vimutti). With the destruction of the taints (āsava), he realizes for himself with direct knowledge, in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), and having entered upon it, he dwells therein. This person too, Mahānāma, is freed from hell, freed from the animal womb, freed from the domain of ghosts, freed from the plane of misery, the bad destination, the lower world.
