[1605] "Bhikkhus, just as it is not easy to count the measure of the water in the great ocean thus: 'There are so many āḷhakas of water,' or 'There are so many hundreds of āḷhakas of water,' or 'There are so many thousands of āḷhakas of water,' or 'There are so many hundreds of thousands of āḷhakas of water,' but rather it is reckoned simply as a great mass of water, incalculable, immeasurable — even so, bhikkhus, when a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) possesses these four streams of merit (puññābhisanda), streams of the wholesome (kusalābhisanda), it is not easy to count the measure of his merit thus: 'So much is the stream of merit, the stream of the wholesome, the nutriment of happiness,' but rather it is reckoned simply as a great mass of merit, incalculable, immeasurable."
