[1626] "Venerable sir, it is not easy for us — dwelling at home in a house crowded with children, enjoying sandalwood from Kāsi, wearing garlands, scents, and unguents, accepting gold and silver — to dwell from time to time having entered upon those discourses spoken by the Tathāgata that are deep, deep in meaning, supramundane, connected with emptiness. Venerable sir, let the Blessed One teach a further Dhamma to us who stand established in the five training rules (sikkhāpada)."
"Therefore, Dhammadinna, you should train thus: 'We will be endowed with confirmed confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: "Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One." … in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha …. We will be endowed with the virtues dear to the noble ones — unbroken … conducive to concentration (samādhi).' It is thus, Dhammadinna, that you should train."
"Venerable sir, those four factors of stream-entry (sotāpattiyaṅga) that have been taught by the Blessed One — those qualities (dhammā) are found in us, and we are seen to conform to those qualities. For we, venerable sir, are endowed with confirmed confidence in the Buddha: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' … in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha …. We will be endowed with the virtues dear to the noble ones — unbroken … conducive to concentration."
"It is a gain for you, Dhammadinna! It is well gained by you, Dhammadinna! The fruit of stream-entry (sotāpattiphala) has been declared by you, Dhammadinna."
