[1751] "Bhikkhus, suppose a man were to place seven little pellets the size of jujube kernels upon the great earth. What do you think, bhikkhus: which is the more — the seven little pellets the size of jujube kernels that have been placed there, or this great earth?"
"Venerable sir, the great earth is by far the more; the seven little pellets the size of jujube kernels that have been placed there are trifling. Compared with the great earth, the seven little pellets the size of jujube kernels that have been placed there do not amount to counting, do not amount to comparison, do not amount even to a fraction."
"Even so, bhikkhus, for a noble disciple … (the same elision as before) … exertion should be made."
