[1803] "Bhikkhus, so too, few are those beings who, passing away from the realm of ghosts (pittivisaya), are reborn among the devas; rather, far more numerous are those beings who, passing away from the realm of ghosts, are reborn in the realm of ghosts. For what reason? Because, bhikkhus, of not having seen the four noble truths (ariyasacca). Which four? The noble truth of suffering (dukkha), the noble truth of the origin of suffering, the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, and the noble truth of the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering. Therefore, bhikkhus, effort should be made [to understand]: 'This is suffering'; effort should be made: 'This is the origin of suffering'; effort should be made: 'This is the cessation of suffering'; effort should be made: 'This is the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering.'"
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Elated, those bhikkhus rejoiced in the Blessed One's statement.
The Cakka Repetition Series (Cakkapeyyāla) is concluded.
The Saccasaṃyutta is concluded.
The Mahāvārasaṃyutta is finished.

The Path, the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), mindfulness,
the faculties and the right strivings,
the powers, the bases of spiritual power, Anuruddha,
the jhāna and breathing (ānāpāna) collections,
stream-entry, and the truths —
thus were they taught by the Self-Awakened One;
under the name of the Great Chapter (Mahāvāravagga)
these twelve are renowned.
