[281] "And how, bhikkhus, does a bhikkhu — by means of a rightly directed view (sammāpaṇihitā diṭṭhi), by means of rightly directed development of the path (magga) — break ignorance (avijjā), arouse true knowledge (vijjā), and realize Nibbāna? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops right view (sammādiṭṭhi), based upon seclusion (viveka), based upon dispassion (virāga), based upon cessation (nirodha), maturing in relinquishment (vossaggapariṇāmiṃ) … he develops right concentration (samādhi, sammāsamādhi), based upon seclusion, based upon dispassion, based upon cessation, maturing in relinquishment. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu — by means of a rightly directed view, by means of rightly directed development of the path — breaks ignorance, arouses true knowledge, and realizes Nibbāna."
