[282] Setting at Sāvatthī. Bhikkhus, just as various winds blow in the sky — east winds blow, west winds blow, north winds blow, south winds blow, dusty winds blow, dustless winds blow, cool winds blow, hot winds blow, gentle winds blow, and strong winds blow — even so, bhikkhus, when a bhikkhu develops the noble eightfold path (ariya aṭṭhaṅgika magga), when he cultivates the noble eightfold path, the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) also go to fulfillment by development, the four right strivings (sammappadhāna) also go to fulfillment by development, the four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda) also go to fulfillment by development, the five faculties (indriya) also go to fulfillment by development, the five powers (bala) also go to fulfillment by development, and the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) also go to fulfillment by development.
