[349] Setting at Sāvatthī. Bhikkhus, there are these five lower fetters (orambhāgiyāni saṃyojanāni). Which five? Identity view (sakkāyadiṭṭhi), doubt, adherence to rules and observances (sīlabbataparāmāsa), sensual desire, and ill will. These, bhikkhus, are the five lower fetters.
