[397] "And how, Kuṇḍaliya, are those three kinds of good conduct (sucarita) developed, how are they cultivated, so that they fulfil the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna)? Here, Kuṇḍaliya, a bhikkhu develops good bodily conduct for the abandoning of bodily misconduct; he develops good verbal conduct for the abandoning of verbal misconduct; he develops good mental conduct for the abandoning of mental misconduct. It is when the three kinds of good conduct are developed in this way, Kuṇḍaliya, cultivated in this way, that they fulfil the four establishments of mindfulness."
