The eye, bhikkhus, is a dhamma subject to the fetters (saṃyojana): it is here that these arise—the fetters that bind (saṃyojanavinibandha) and the holdings (ajjhosāna). The ear … the nose … the tongue is a dhamma subject to the fetters: it is here that these arise—the fetters that bind and the holdings … The mind is a dhamma subject to the fetters: it is here that these arise—the fetters that bind and the holdings. These, bhikkhus, are called the dhammas subject to the fetters."
