[497] And what, bhikkhus, are those great trees (mahārukkhā) that have tiny seeds and huge bodies, encroachers upon other trees, overgrown by which the trees lie bent down, broken apart, and collapsed? Namely: the assattha (sacred fig), the nigrodha (banyan), the milakkhu, the udumbara (cluster fig), the kacchaka, and the kapitthana. These, bhikkhus, are those great trees that have tiny seeds and huge bodies, encroachers upon other trees, overgrown by which the trees lie bent down, broken apart, and collapsed.
