[547] Then a number of bhikkhus, having dressed in the morning and taking their bowls and robes, entered Sāvatthī for alms. Then it occurred to those bhikkhus: "It is still too early to walk for alms in Sāvatthī. Suppose we were to approach the park of the wanderers of other sects." Then those bhikkhus approached the park of the wanderers of other sects; having approached, they exchanged greetings with those wanderers of other sects, and when the courteous and memorable talk was concluded, they sat down to one side. As those bhikkhus were sitting to one side, those wanderers of other sects said this to them: "Friends, the ascetic Gotama teaches the Dhamma to his disciples thus: 'Come, bhikkhus, abandon the five hindrances (nīvaraṇa), the corruptions of the mind (citta) that weaken wisdom, and develop the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) as they really are.' We too, friends, teach the Dhamma to our disciples thus: 'Come, friends, abandon the five hindrances, the corruptions of the mind that weaken wisdom, and develop the seven factors of awakening as they really are.' Here then, friends, what is the distinction, what is the disparity, what is the difference between the ascetic Gotama and us, that is, comparing Dhamma teaching with Dhamma teaching, and instruction with instruction?"
