[551] "Bhikkhus, when wanderers of other sects speak thus, they should be addressed thus: 'Friends, is there a method of exposition (pariyāya) by means of which the five hindrances (nīvaraṇa) become ten, and the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) become fourteen?' Being asked thus, bhikkhus, the wanderers of other sects will not be able to explain, and, further, they will fall into vexation. For what reason? Because, bhikkhus, that lies outside their domain. Bhikkhus, I do not see anyone in this world with its devas, with its Māra, with its Brahmā, in this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans, who could satisfy the mind (citta) with an answer to these questions, except for the Tathāgata, or a disciple of the Tathāgata, or one who has heard it from here."
