[561] Whenever, bhikkhus, one examines, explores, and enters upon a thorough scrutiny of dhammas internally with wisdom (paññā), that too is the investigation of dhammas factor of awakening (dhammavicayasambojjhaṅga); whenever one examines, explores, and enters upon a thorough scrutiny of dhammas externally with wisdom, that too is the investigation of dhammas factor of awakening. Thus it is in this way that this comes down in the summary as "the investigation of dhammas factor of awakening." By this method, it is twofold.
