[675] "Bhikkhus, there are these three searches (esanā). What three? The search for sensual pleasures (kāmesanā), the search for existence (bhavesanā), and the search for a holy life (brahmacariyesanā)" — [this] is to be expanded in full.

Searches, discriminations (vidhā), the taint (āsava),
existence, and the three on suffering-ness (dukkhatā);
barrenness (khīla), stain (mala), and affliction (nīgha),
feeling (vedanā), and craving (taṇhā).
