[700] Bhikkhus, range in your own resort (gocara), your own ancestral domain. Bhikkhus, for those who range in their own resort, their own ancestral domain, Māra will not gain an opening, Māra will not gain a foothold (ārammaṇa). And what, bhikkhus, is a bhikkhu's resort, his own ancestral domain? It is these four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna). What four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. He dwells contemplating … in feelings (vedanā), … in the mind (citta), … dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. This, bhikkhus, is a bhikkhu's resort, his own ancestral domain.
