[702] Therefore, bhikkhus, do not wander in what is not your proper resort, in the domain of others. Bhikkhus, for those who wander in what is not their proper resort, in the domain of others, Māra will gain an opening, Māra will gain an object. And what, bhikkhus, is not a bhikkhu's proper resort, being the domain of others? It is these five cords of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇā). What five? Forms cognizable by the eye that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, endearing, connected with sensuality, enticing to lust; sounds cognizable by the ear; odours cognizable by the nose; tastes cognizable by the tongue; tangibles cognizable by the body that are wished for, desirable, agreeable, endearing, connected with sensuality, enticing to lust. This, bhikkhus, is what is not a bhikkhu's proper resort, being the domain of others.
