[715] Then the Venerable Ānanda, having walked for alms in Sāvatthī, after the meal, returning from the alms round, approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Here, venerable sir, in the morning, having dressed and taken bowl and robe, I approached a certain dwelling of bhikkhunīs; having approached, I sat down on the seat that had been prepared. Then, venerable sir, a number of bhikkhunīs approached me; having approached, they paid homage to me and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, venerable sir, those bhikkhunīs said this to me: 'Here, Venerable Ānanda, a number of bhikkhunīs, dwelling with minds well established in the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), perceive a lofty distinction, successively higher than before (pubbenāparaṃ visesaṃ).' When this was said, venerable sir, I said to those bhikkhunīs: 'So it is, sisters! So it is, sisters! Whatever bhikkhu (bhikkhu) or bhikkhunī, sisters, dwells with mind (citta) well established in the four establishments of mindfulness, of that one this may be expected: they will perceive a lofty distinction, successively higher than before.'"
